How many colleges require SAT or ACT testing for their college applications?

ree

As of this writing, the answer is 43 according to this reliable list from our friends at Compass Education Group.

What is the common denominator for most of the schools that require SAT or ACTs? Selectivity. Meaning, the more selective the school, the more likely they require SAT or ACT scores when applying.

However, there are over 2,000 schools who are test-optional or test-free according to this list from the hardworking people at the National Center for Fair and Open Testing.

The moral of the story continues to be that the student remains in the driver's seat. If you don't want to go through the testing experience, you have 2000+ schools to consider. But if you want the most selective colleges, then successful testing is paramount.

All told, CROSSWALK continues to promote an stress-free approach to test prep. Start by taking the test, either the SAT or ACT. Once you get your score, then you can pick one of two paths: 1) Commit to test prep in order to mprove your score for a chance at a highly selective school or, 2) Forget about testing altogether and work on the other important elements of your college application like essays, extracurriculars, passion projects and more.

And if you need help sorting this all out, contact CROSSWALK.
